Eugen Warming (1841 - 1924)
Botanist (taxonomist, embryologist, morphologist, pioneer in plant ecology). Studied with P.W. Lund in Brazil 1863-66. Degree in botany 1868. Studies in Munich 1870. Dr. phil. 1871. Studied at Bonn 1871. Lecturer in botany at the University of Copenhagen 1874-82. Professor at the University of Stockholm 1882-85; 1885-1911 professor of botany at the University of Copenhagen. Expeditions to Greenland 1884 and to Lapland 1885. Professor of Botany at the University of Copenhagen and director of the botanical garden from 1885 to 1911. One of the Directors of the Carlsberg Foundation 1889-1922. Collections from Brazil and the Arctic at the Botanical Museum.
